Alissa Kaplan, maker and founder of Ziz Land Atelier, will guide you through the craft of broom making as you create your own Turkey Wing Whisk with a woven handle—a beautiful and functional hand broom with deep roots in American folk tradition.

In this 3-hour class, you’ll learn:

• A brief history and uses of hand brooms

• Traditional Shaker/Appalachian binding and wrapping techniques

• How to select and prepare broomcorn for a whisk

• Step-by-step guidance to craft your own wrapped Turkey Wing Whisk to take home
