Turkey Wing Whisk with Woven Handle

Sunday, May 3rd 10:00am - 1:00pm

At Ziz Land in Petaluma

Join us for a hands-on workshop where tradition meets artistry. Alissa Kaplan, maker and founder of Ziz Land Atelier, will guide you through the craft of broom making as you create your own Turkey Wing Whisk—a beautiful and functional hand broom with deep roots in American folk tradition.

In this 3-hour class, you’ll learn:

  • A brief history and uses of hand brooms

  • Traditional Shaker/Appalachian binding and wrapping techniques

  • How to select and prepare broomcorn for a whisk

  • Step-by-step guidance to craft your own wrapped Hawk Tail Whisk to take home

Whether you’re drawn to heritage crafts, seasonal rituals, or simply love working with your hands, this workshop offers a meaningful way to connect with timeless skills and leave with something useful and beautiful.

Some hand strength is required. Material and tools will be supplied.

Cost: $150. All materials included. Additional whisk kits can be purchased separately after class.
